Father & Son | [Kyungsoo & Jiyong]

“…that’s why you just can’t absently sing a random note just because it sounds similar. These things can severely affect your performance and, quite possibly, your audience’s hearing.” Kyungsoo recited as he moved from his desk to lean on the side of his piano. He remained silent as his eyes swooped over his students, mentally listing all of the familiar faces. It wasn’t until his eyes landed on the last one that he frowned a little. Someone was missing. “It’s not the same if I sing this,” Kyungsoo extended his arm and pressed one of the pianos keys, ” versus this” He pressed the key right next to the other, creating an unpleasant sound,  ”the pitches are so close together that they only clash, instead of going together.” Kyungsoo glanced at his watch, twenty minutes before class was over. He looked over his students again and it clicked. Kyungsoo sighed as he moved to sit down on his chair behind his desk, “Now that we’ve covered the basics, tomorrow we’re going to start with applying everything through practice. Be sure to study the songs I’ve provided you with. Class is dismissed.” The students looked overall happy to be leaving sooner than expected, having now some free time for themselves, while Kyungsoo just felt a bit…annoyed. It’s the third time this particular student either comes in late or just skips his class all together. Normally, Kyungsoo wouldn’t care. This IS a university, after all, not some next door high school. But this student wasn’t just anyone, which only annoys him even more. Kyungsoo leaned on his chair and drummed his fingers on his desk, “This kid…” A few minutes later, and a man waltzes in. Kyungsoo followed the man with his eyes as the other stopped and looked around in confusion. “Jiyong…” Kyungsoo quietly called out, making the other turn towards him, “Should I even ask?”
